There’s a common misconception about real estate agents and social media: that the goal is to chase likes, rack up views, and build influencer-level follower counts. But for me, social media has never been about that.
My approach is simple and intentional, it’s about staying connected, being helpful, and staying top of mind with the people I genuinely care about. Because in real estate, connection is everything, and staying visible in an authentic way matters more than any algorithm.
Social Media Isn’t About Popularity; It’s About Presence
When I post on social media, I’m not looking at the numbers. I’m not refreshing my feed to see how many likes something got or worrying about whether something “performed well.” I show up online because:
- My clients follow me.
- My friends and family follow me.
- The people who refer me business follow me.
And even if they don’t watch the whole video or click on every post, my face still appears on their screen. They still see that I’m in business, actively working, and showing up consistently. That tiny reminder is powerful.
Real estate isn’t just about contracts and closings, it’s about trust, reputation, and keeping relationships warm. Social media allows me to do that every single day.
When someone says, “Hey, I know someone who needs a REALTOR®. Who should they call?”
The goal is for my name to naturally rise to the top because they just saw me, heard me, or remembered something helpful I shared. That’s the real value of showing up.
Social Media Is My Way of Giving Back
People often underestimate how much free education exists online. I love sharing what I know, whether it’s about buying, selling, building, negotiating, or navigating market changes.
Posting on social media allows me to give back in a few meaningful ways:
- By teaching people how real estate really works
- By sharing honest advice without pressure
- By helping future buyers and sellers understand the process
- By giving quick, easy-to-digest insights that save people time and stress
When someone messages me because a post answered their question or solved a problem, that’s the best part of social media. It means the content worked not because it went viral, but because it helped someone.
Staying Top of Mind Without Being “Salesy”
One of the biggest challenges in real estate is maintaining visibility without feeling like you’re constantly selling something.
Social media solves that naturally. I can show:
- Real experiences
- Real education
- Real behind-the-scenes moments
- Real client stories
- Real updates about the market
…all without ever needing to say, “Hire me.”
Staying present works because it creates familiarity, and familiarity builds trust. When people see you consistently, they feel more confident referring you, reaching out to you, and choosing you when it’s time to make a move.
You don’t have to be loud to be visible. You just have to be consistent.
I Don’t Need the Biggest Following. I Need the Right One
There are agents with 100,000 followers, beautifully produced videos, and huge online platforms. And that’s amazing. We should all be so lucky! But in the meantime, my followers are people I know, people connected to those I know, or people who feel like they know me because of what I share. That’s the power of warm audiences — they convert better, trust faster, and stay longer.
I don’t need to be internet-famous to be effective (although it could be fun)! I just need to show up consistently for the people already in my corner. And that’s what social media helps me do.
Client Testimonial
“Ashley is a very dedicated hard worker who goes above and beyond for her clients. She is always looking out for your best interest and having her as an agent is extremely valuable. It has been an honor to work with her on the sale and purchase of properties.”

FAQs – Social Media & Real Estate
1. Do real estate agents need a big social following to be successful?
Not at all. A small, engaged, local audience is just as valuable as a large following. Consistency matters more than follower count.
2. Does social media really help buyers and sellers?
Yes. It keeps you informed about market shifts, processes, timelines, and real-world expectations. It also lets you see how an agent communicates and operates before working with them.
3. How often should a real estate agent post?
There’s no perfect number. What matters is showing up regularly enough that people stay familiar with your name and your expertise.
4. What kind of content is most helpful in real estate?
Content that educates, simplifies, and provides clarity, anything that helps people understand the buying or selling process without pressure.
5. Why does staying “top of mind” matter in real estate?
Because most real estate decisions start long before someone reaches out. When you stay visible, you stay relevant. When someone needs guidance, you’re the first person they think of.
